People naturally age as time passes. This can manifest in the development of wrinkles on the skin, thinning or graying of hair, and potential tooth loss. While these natural changes may initially feel unfamiliar, most individuals gradually adapt to them over time. Similarly, death is an inevitable aspect of life that can be intimidating due to its its unfamiliarity, but ultimately, people learn to accept and adapt to it.

사람들은 누구나 시간이 지나면서 자연스럽게 노화한다. 외관상 피부에 주름이 생기고, 머리가 빠지거나 하얘지고, 치아를 잃기도 한다. 이러한 자연스러운 변화가 익숙치 않겠지만 그래도 사람들은 대부분 적응해 나간다. 

죽음 또한 마찬가지로 피할수 없고 낯설기에 두려울수 있지만 결국 이를 순응하고 적응하게 된다.

The world is dying and there's no way around it. We betrayed the waters and everything within it. The homes of the fish slowly become plastic, manipulated by the hands of us. Slowly, through time change occurs a change in order. 

I wanted to show that through the betrayal of the people, the only ones left to save them were each other. Represented by a fish, acting as a home, a supporter, a savior for the life that remains under the sea. Yet, I still kept the human touch, the fish being part dead and mechanized, filled with trash. It shows adaptation and change yet also shows the process of decay, betrayal and trial. 

The piece consists of vibrant colours which are representative of the colorful life below. It's vibrant and bright, contrasting the heavy and dull colours of the trash we littered and left behind. Fish-centric one might say, but the fish may disagree.

  우리는 수많은 매체와SNS속 이야기들 그리고 기획된 마케팅, 광고 속에 서로 속고 속이며 살고 있다.

그 안에서 행복도 느끼고 배신도 느끼지만 어느 것이 진실인지 궁금할 때가 많다.

나 역시 살아가면서 가끔씩 오해를 겪기도 하고 선입견에 휩싸이기도 한다.  

나를 보는 사람들의 왜곡된 시선은 내가 사회와 소통하는데 있어 장애물이 되기도 한다. 

반대로 내가 바라보는 현상도 그런 장애물을 만나면 진실을 왜곡 시킬 수 있다. 

그러면서 나도 모르게 그런 상황에 어느새 익숙해져 버리기도 한다.

나는 그런 선입견이나 오해들을 진실을 방해하는 장애물이라 생각하고 얼음 조각으로 표현하였다. 

그 얼음 조각들을 사이에 두고 나를 바라 보는 시선과, 내가 바라보는 시선 사이의 왜곡을 표현하고 싶었다. 

얼음을 통해 보는 대상은 순간순간 과장과 축소로 왜곡을 만들어 내고 나름의 재미도 생기기도 한다.

그러면서 그 변화에 혼동 스러워 하기도 하고 익숙해 지기도 한다.

무심히 바라보는 내 얼굴 주위에 얼음조각을 들고 있는 손들은 여러 명의 손이라서 내 손일수도 있고 다른 사람들의 손일수도 있다.

결국 이 상황은 외부에 의해,  또는 나로 인해 만들어 진다.

하지만 언젠간 녹는 얼음처럼 시간이 지나면 진실은 결국 드러난다는 희망의 메세지를 위해 얼음으로 표현했다.

변화와 왜곡에 관한 관심이 많아서 같은 주제로 그린 시리즈 중 하나이며 종이에 색연필로 그렸다.

  The piece portrays the two distinct worlds of nature and technology that collided, following a need to adapt to the developed, virtual world from Covid-19. We were inevitably stuck in between the bold center separating our past natural world of pure nature, just as the lively grass, branches, and leaves depict, to the current society that is gradually relying more on the technical world through online meetings and from more developing cities as seen through the vibrant buildings on the right.

To convey the theme of adapting to climate change, machines are designed to assist individuals in dealing with extreme weather conditions. Two self-portraits use contrasting colors to symbolize weather. For hot weather, one portrait is red, depicting extreme heat and shelter-seeking gestures. Also, stretched grass in the background illustrates adaptation to heat. For cold weather, the second portrait is blue, showing shivering and igloo-like lines for protection from cold winds.

  The artwork displays a man frantically adapting to technological changes as computers evolve at an ever-growing rate. The man in the piece is seen wearing a VR head-mounted display (headset) while using a laptop, surrounded by a 90s, 60s, and the ENIAC, the first digital computer ever produced.

  ‘The Everyday Brain’ is a painting depicting the profound connection between our daily actions and our brains. Each can of paint holds objects such as glasses and headphones that we frequently use on a daily basis. Each label reveals how different parts of our brain serve a unique function that is connected to the objects. For instance, the temporal lobe is related to hearing, which is represented through headphones. The cans reveal that different parts of our brain serve unique purposes. However, the reason that the cans are together is to show that the different sections also work together to allow us to function everyday. I placed each object in different paint cans with labels that described their connection.
