Title : Sustainable Future over Extravagance
Artist : Sieon Lee
Year : 2024
Material / Medium : Acrylic and jewels on canvas
Size of Artwork : 50x61cm
Award : Bronze Medal
Description of Artwork :
There are lots of ongoing social and environmental concerns threatening our future: social gaps are widened, and sustainability of environments is now unsure. However, people who are not aware of those problems prioritize showing off their luxurious lives while other people struggle to solve environmental problems or their personal financial problems. In the artwork, the rich take a bath with myriad jewels instead of water. The reckless extravagance is shown through the infinite flowing of jewels as we can conceive of careless people wasting water. This work is a wake up call to mitigate the problems intimidating our future.

Title : Blooms of the River
Artist : Yoonseo Lee
Year : 2024
Material / Medium : 디지털
Size of Artwork : 42x29.7cm
Award : Bronze Medal
Description of Artwork :
My inspiration for this artwork came from an outdoor education trip to Chungju Lake. While kayaking, I noticed thick, green layers on the water that created an unpleasant smell. At the time, I didn't know what it was. Although I was disappointed that I couldn't swim in the lake because of it, I immediately knew that it was unhealthy, looking at the gloopiness that reached out to rocks and surfaces, clinging on tightly. Later in my science class, I learned about eutrophication and realized that what I had seen was an algal bloom. This experience allowed me to learn more about current situations and explore how these issues can be effectively expressed through art. My goal was to create a visually appealing piece that delivers a strong message. I wanted my artwork to capture viewers' attention and spark curiosity in them, consequently bringing more attention to the environmental challenges we face.
Title : 비전
Artist : Hyunmin Oh
Year : 2024
Material / Medium :
Size of Artwork : 50x61cm
Award : Bronze Medal
Description of Artwork :

Title : Go Forward With No Regret
Artist : Sangin Park
Year : 2024
Material / Medium : Acrylic Paint
Size of Artwork : 38.1x50.8cm
Award : Bronze Medal
Description of Artwork :
The future is a constant state of anxiety. The negative futures we unconsciously create after each failure can interfere with our ability to live in the present. But just as we don’t know what lies ahead until we reach the top of the stairs, we don’t know what the future holds until we experience it. We can only have vague expectations of the future and live in the present moment. The future is something we control, not something we are controlled by. If we stay true to the present, the future we envision will surely come.
Title :
Artist : Heejun Ham
Year : 2024
Material / Medium : Acrylic Paint
Size of Artwork : 4절지
Award : Bronze Medal
Description of Artwork :

Title : Delivery
Artist : Joyce Park
Year : 2024
Material / Medium : Oil painting
Size of Artwork : 38.1x40cm
Award : Bronze Medal
Description of Artwork :
Inspired by an 18th-century English folk song about rumors, my artwork reflects social media culture of people delivering information without considering the consequences. Inspired by this theme, I painted the woman wearing a Napoleonic-era dress inside the dark room. The thread made from spinning wheel transforms into fabric, which she uses to create a silk screen. With that silkscreen, she is printing newspaper. The woman symbolizes the continuous influence of the creator, using traditional methods to create modern media. The collage frame of the newspaper symbolizes pouring information of today's life. My intention with this piece was to help my audience explore the persistent nature of human behavior and the complexities of determining the truth in a modern society dominated by information overload. By underscoring this problem, my artwork works as a medium to encourage the next generation of creators to acknowledge ongoing mis-practice and unite them to in the global life.

Description of Artwork :
“Echoes of Tomorrow” focuses on the necessity of the past in shaping our future. By utilizing the features of Russian nesting dolls and displaying each phase of human evolution, I attempted to visualize how the past will always be the starting point through which the future builds. History always discusses past events and how we can learn from successes or mistakes to create a brighter and better future, thus I formatted the dolls to give the impression of an echo where the influence of each phase is continually inspiring and influencing.

Description of Artwork :

Unbounded by the intimidating expectations of society, the imagination of a child has proven to follow the process of divergent thinking, an activity that consists of producing numerous, unique solutions to a problem. Therefore, it is essential that we begin to stress the significance of an impact a child can make in this world of opportunity by inspiring children to use their creative outlets as spaces to build change. In today’s conflict-ridden society, many have lost hope, but if every individual in the world were to unite and believe, we’d be able to effect and achieve great change.

Material / Medium : Digital Art
Size of Artwork : 3300×1950 pixels
Award : Bronze Medal
Description of Artwork :
Smartphones are infiltrating our daily lives, occupying a central position in many homes today. During mealtime, many families become less communicative and fall into their own worlds of smartphones. Then they slowly begin to have difficulty noticing what is happening around them, causing them to miss out on opportunities that are right in front of them. I think this applies to many people who are living in the present day. I also have a hard time managing screen time and feel depressed after realizing that I have wasted time that could have been spent more productively. Through this art piece, I wanted to express the increase in phone addiction problems.
